C\u2019est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment l\u2019objectif du programme Politique 101, d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 par Action Canada pour l\u2019engagement citoyen des jeunes.<\/p>\n<p>Politique 101 propose une approche p\u00e9dagogique claire, actuelle et engageante de la politique publique. \u00c0 travers des vid\u00e9os dynamiques et des balados soutenus par des guides p\u00e9dagogiques, le programme rend accessibles des notions souvent per\u00e7ues comme abstraites ou \u00e9loign\u00e9es du quotidien des \u00e9l\u00e8ves. Cette s\u00e9ance de travail de 1 h 30 a permis de d\u00e9couvrir la phase 2 de Politique 101, pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e par Sara-Christine Gemson, accompagn\u00e9e d\u2019Anne Matio, toutes deux du ppforum.<\/p>\n<p>Cette deuxi\u00e8me phase repose principalement sur une offre d\u2019\u00e9tudes de cas, con\u00e7ues pour aider les \u00e9l\u00e8ves \u00e0 mieux comprendre la pertinence des politiques publiques, ainsi que le processus de leur \u00e9laboration et de leur mise en \u0153uvre. Ces \u00e9tudes de cas plongent les \u00e9l\u00e8ves dans des situations r\u00e9elles ou r\u00e9alistes, o\u00f9 les pr\u00e9occupations, les valeurs et les int\u00e9r\u00eats des diff\u00e9rents acteurs peuvent diverger \u2014 ce qui refl\u00e8te fid\u00e8lement la complexit\u00e9 du monde politique.<\/p>\n<p>Comme l\u2019ont soulign\u00e9 les membres du groupe, ce type d\u2019approche favorise non seulement la compr\u00e9hension des m\u00e9canismes d\u00e9cisionnels, mais aussi le d\u00e9veloppement de comp\u00e9tences essentielles : analyse critique, dialogue, empathie, prise de perspective et capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 justifier une position. Les \u00e9l\u00e8ves ne se contentent pas d\u2019apprendre ce qu\u2019est une politique publique : ils sont amen\u00e9s \u00e0 r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir au pourquoi de son existence, comment elle est construite et quels effets elle peut avoir sur diff\u00e9rents groupes.<\/p>\n<p>Les \u00e9tudes de cas sont appuy\u00e9es par des vid\u00e9os explicatives claires et pertinentes, qui contextualisent les enjeux abord\u00e9s et soutiennent la compr\u00e9hension des \u00e9l\u00e8ves. Un guide p\u00e9dagogique accompagne \u00e9galement le tout, offrant des pistes d\u2019animation, des outils d\u2019\u00e9valuation et des questions invitant \u00e0 la r\u00e9flexion.<\/p>\n<p>Les \u00e9changes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 riches et les commentaires constructifs formul\u00e9s par les participantes et participants du RESSC ont notamment port\u00e9 sur la clart\u00e9 du langage, la pertinence de l\u2019approche et les possibilit\u00e9s de bonification. Il a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 constat\u00e9 que l\u2019offre d\u2019activit\u00e9s p\u00e9dagogiques s\u2019arrime bien aux programmes scolaires des diff\u00e9rentes r\u00e9gions du pays. Fait \u00e0 souligner : l\u2019ensemble du mat\u00e9riel est bilingue, et lorsque le narratif d\u2019une vid\u00e9o est dans une langue, le propos est sous-titr\u00e9 dans l\u2019autre. Ces \u00e9changes ont ainsi permis de confirmer la pertinence p\u00e9dagogique du programme et d\u2019affiner certains aspects de sa mise en \u0153uvre en classe.<\/p>\n<p>Politique 101 se distingue aussi par sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 rejoindre les jeunes l\u00e0 o\u00f9 ils sont : dans leur r\u00e9alit\u00e9 quotidienne, leurs pr\u00e9occupations, leurs questionnements et leurs aspirations. En proposant des contenus actuels, ancr\u00e9s dans des enjeux concrets, le programme favorise l\u2019engagement citoyen, non pas par l\u2019endoctrinement, mais par la compr\u00e9hension, la discussion et la r\u00e9flexion critique.<\/p>\n<p>Pour les enseignantes et enseignants, ce programme repr\u00e9sente un outil pr\u00e9cieux pour aborder la citoyennet\u00e9, la d\u00e9mocratie et la participation politique de mani\u00e8re structur\u00e9e, accessible et stimulante. This is precisely the goal of the Politics 101 program, developed by Action Canada for Youth Engagement.<\/p><p>Politics 101 offers a clear, current, and engaging educational approach to public policy. Through dynamic videos and podcasts supported by teaching guides, the program makes concepts accessible that are often perceived as abstract or distant from students\u2019 daily lives. This 90-minute working session provided an opportunity to explore Phase 2 of Politics 101, presented by Sara-Christine Gemson, accompanied by Anne Matio, both from ppforum.<\/p><p>This second phase is built primarily around a series of case studies designed to help students better understand the relevance of public policy, as well as the processes involved in its development and implementation. These case studies immerse students in real or realistic situations where the concerns, values, and interests of various stakeholders may diverge \u2014 accurately reflecting the complexity of the political world.<\/p><p>As group members noted, this approach not only supports understanding of decision-making mechanisms, but also fosters the development of essential skills: critical thinking, dialogue, empathy, perspective-taking, and the ability to justify a position. Students do not simply learn what public policy is; they are encouraged to reflect on why it exists, how it is constructed, and what effects it may have on different groups.<\/p><p>The case studies are supported by clear and relevant explanatory videos that contextualize the issues addressed and enhance student understanding. A teaching guide also accompanies the materials, offering facilitation strategies, assessment tools, and reflective questions.<\/p><p>The exchanges were rich, and the constructive feedback provided by RESSC participants focused in particular on clarity of language, relevance of the approach, and opportunities for enhancement. It was also noted that the pedagogical activities align well with school curricula across different regions of the country. Notably, all materials are bilingual, and when a video\u2019s narration is in one language, it is subtitled in the other. These discussions helped confirm the program\u2019s educational relevance and refine certain aspects of its classroom implementation.<\/p><p>Politics 101 also stands out for its ability to connect with young people where they are \u2014 in their daily realities, concerns, questions, and aspirations.
