NB Conference
“On Friday, May 2, 2025, over 6500 Anglophone teachers gathered for New Brunswick’s NBTA Council Day, an annual professional development event hosted by 3 NBTA Councils. For a second year, the New Brunswick Social Studies Educators’ Network (NBSSEN) collaborated with NBTA Councils to deliver dozens of dynamic, Social Studies-focussed sessions. NBTA High School Council attendees had the opportunity to explore student-centred, resource-rich, activity-based strategies for the K-12 Social Studies classroom through engaging workshops led by local historians, university professors and doctoral candidates, and experienced educators. Highlights included sessions such as Tools for Building Thinking Skills in the Social Studies Classroom, Podcasts for Civic Engagement, Using Local Primary Sources New Brunswick Style, Digital Media Literacy Skills in the Age of AI, Rescuing Reason: History Education and Civic Truth, and Above the Battlefield: Teaching the Wartime Service of Racialized Peoples. Teachers visited the SSENC Exhibitor’s booth to grab some swag and learned more about SSENC resources.”
